Before you go for winter vacation, DO THESE THINGS

The last days of the semester are insanely busy. While you are completing group projects, putting the finishing touches on your homework, and studying diligently for final exams, you also try to organize your personal belongings before you leave campus for winter break. Use this checklist to help you minimize the stress of preparing to be away for an extended period.

  • Take a free COVID-19 test before you go home. Use the Safer Community app to find test locations and plan your time. By getting tested before you go, you will help protect yourself, your family and the community.
  • Sell the textbooks at the Campus Store inside the Union of Nebraska.
  • Return or renew books from UNL libraries.
  • Get a free flu shot at the University Health Center.
  • Sign up and pledge to contribute to the MLK Week of Service project in January 2022.
  • Plan your prescriptions with the pharmacy at the University Health Center. Mail order, curbside delivery and other delivery options available. Call 402-472-7457.
  • Store your bike in your room or apartment.
  • Empty uneaten food. Help other Huskers by depositing non-perishable items in one of the Husker Pantry drop-off bins on campus.
  • Register your RSO for a stand / table at the Spring Club Fair.
  • Take your training clothes and sports equipment from your rented locker at one of the facilities at Campus Rec.
  • Gather your laundry – including sheets and towels – to wash and bring back fresh to campus.
  • Empty garbage and recycling bins. Do not rinse or throw away unwanted medications; use the safe in the pharmacy of the University Health Center.
  • Unplug all electrical appliances, including computers, hairdryers, televisions, video game players, and countertop appliances.
  • Take your houseplants and fish.
  • Close and lock the windows securely.
  • Turn off the lights and lock the door.

Enjoy a wonderful, safe and rejuvenating break!
