RHS and Student Affairs join forces to create new division of student life
Michigan State University President Samuel L. Stanley Jr. announced a new structure for student services that will combine units of the Division of Student Affairs and Services and units of Residential and Student Services. homepage.
Pending the approval of the Board of Trustees meeting on October 29, Senior Vice President Vennie Gore will lead this new unit called the “Student Life and Engagement Division”.
Stanley says the new division will reflect the mission and values of the new strategic plan.
“We know the student experience doesn’t start and end at the borders of a dorm, classroom or city limits,” Stanley said in the announcement email. . “Our university is committed to ensuring the success of students from registration to graduation, regardless of where the student resides. Therefore, I will now make this temporary realignment permanent.
Gore is the university’s vice president for residential and hospitality services and ancillary businesses. In September 2020, Gore took over from former Vice President of Student Affairs Denise Maybank after leaving college.
The new post will make this change of functions permanent.
